Hi Moms and Dads! I hope you’re enjoying the few moments you have for yourselves when the kids are sleeping and enjoying our website! If you’re like me, you’re looking for a school that values your child’s uniqueness and helps them find their place in the world. If yes, I have good news for you: you have found the school!
As a mother, I want my kids to explore different fields and find themselves within their natural strengths, therefore, with the support of the Merlion community, we were able to transform Merlion School into a Strengths Based school, with an engaging environment where our children can flourish daily, find their strengths and passions, and fulfill their potential. It sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? A dream that can surely come true for our children, who go through mindful education while attending a school with international standards.
When we decided to become the first Design Thinking school in Surabaya we knew we would be able to positively impact our children, however, the results surpassed our expectations. Our students are acquiring the skills needed to face the rapidly changing world and work dynamics faster than ever before, becoming also mentally prepared through our programme, which also focuses on the skills needed to cope with their emotions. Afterall, we know our little ones can sometimes feel overwhelmed with their emotions, and so can we!
We all want our kids to be well-rounded, but what does that mean? At Merlion School, that means that our children will be exposed to 3 areas: the mind, the body, and the heart. The mind ensures that our kids receive the knowledge they need in order to succeed. The body ensures they remain physically healthy. The heart ensures our kids remain humble. These three also compose our motto: Bright Mind, Fit Body, and Humble Heart.
The COVID-19 pandemic has really accelerated everything around us. Was it easy? Definitely not. I understand you, I myself have two children to guide through online learning and although at times things went great, sometimes I wanted to hide! Trust me, I feel your struggles! However, at Merlion School, we are all in the same boat. We row together and when one is tired of rowing, the rest of the community is there to make sure the boat doesn't stop. Here you are not alone. We listen and support each other. Throughout the extra parental struggles the pandemic has brought to us, it has also shown us that traditional education is not enough to prepare our children for the future. Seeing and understanding that has led us to innovate education, leaving the outdated teacher-centered approach behind and focusing on what matters the most: our children and their unique potential.
